My Life as a Controller

Full Disclosure, I’m Not surprised to Be Categorized as a Controller Profile

by Jenna Fatum

My Predictive Index profile is a “Controller”.

Before learning about Predictive Index, the word “controlling” always sounded like a negative way to describe someone, especially in the workplace! After taking the Predictive Index assessment my biggest fear was confirmed, and I thought to myself, “Great, my husband is right. I am controlling!” However, as I learned more about Predictive Index and the behavioral traits associated with the “Controller” profile I discovered that it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I am proud to be classified as a “Controller” and for those that can relate, no doubt you will own the title, but I encourage you to utilize your strengths to provide value outside of your comfort zone throughout your career.

Curious what Predictive Index tye you are? Take the Behavioral Assessment here

What are the perks of having a Controller on the team? A Controller will be detail-oriented and will make sure accuracy and quality is of utmost importance. They are patient and strive for consistency and stability. They appreciate structure and completing tasks by the rules and processes. Efficiency is important and a Controller will solve any problems that come their way! A Controller values their freedom to own their day, give them the tools to succeed and space to perform and they will not disappoint!

Full disclosure, I’m not surprised to be categorized as a “Controller” profile. I’ve been bossing around my twin sister since day one (sorry, Bri). I was intrigued to learn about the details of Predictive Index and how I can leverage my behavioral traits within a professional setting. I look forward to further exploring the motivating factors behind my behaviors and anticipate the opportunity to contribute my skillset in different avenues throughout my career.

The Predictive Index assessment allows others to understand the motivating factors behind how people behave in the workplace and identifies their strengths. If you are interested in uncovering the motivation behind specific behaviors for either yourself or perhaps your work team, taking the Predictive Index assessment will be very enlightening, and who knows, you might be surprised by the results (or not!).
